Since 2003, the Virgin Islands Resource Conservation & Development Council, Inc. (VI RC&D ) has received $8,305 in grant funds from the VI Agriculture Department’s Urban & Community Forestry Assistance Program (U&CFAP) and $1,788 from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service to purchase National Association of Conservation Districts’ (NACD) environmental education materials and distribute them to local schools. Over 16,850 environmental booklets have been provided to youths in 28 public and private schools and youth organizations on St. Croix and St. Thomas, at the Annual St. Croix Agriculture and Food Fairs, St. Croix Eco-Fairs, and teacher's QuEST workshops. Booklets were also provided to the Florida Trail Association through a cooperative effort with the Central Florida RC&D Council, and to the V.I. Waste Management Authority. Booklets are also available through the V.I. Network of Environmental Educators (VINE).
