The V. I. Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. (VI RC&D) is pleased to announce the donation of our Grant Resource Library to the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Library System and the St. John Public Library. The donation of these materials marks the culmination of a ten-year effort to provide leadership development to the Virgin Islands community through grantsmanship training and provide public access to grant-writing reference materials.

In order to improve public access to grant-writing reference materials, VI RC&D donated its Grant Resource Library materials to the UVI St. Croix and St. Thomas Libraries, and the St. John Public Library. The collection is housed together at the libraries and is indexed in the libraries' Online catalogs. Librarian assistance is also provided for persons utilizing Grant Resource Library materials. These materials are now more readily available to local nonprofit groups, community organizations, government agencies, teachers and students, enabling them to seek funding for leadership & community development projects.

The VI RC&D initial donation of Grant Resource Library materials in December 2004 - January 2005 consisted of directories, guidebooks and reference books such as the 2004 Foundation Yearbook, Foundation Directory, National Directory of Corporate Giving, and the Foundation Center Database CD-ROM. A subsequent donation funded by proceeds from VIRC&D's 2006 Grant Writing Workshops included: the 2006 Directory of Operating Grants, the Guide to Grant-Seeking on the Web, and the Leading 500 Foundations funding Conservation, Wildlife & the Environment.

For the past fourteen years, the VI RC&D Council has endeavored to build capacity in our community to solve our own problems. We particularly encourage all non-profits to use this resource library to support their missions and to seek opportunities for partnerships through a community network of grant writers.

For more information on the Grant Resource Library, or other VI RC&D Projects, please call (340) 692-9632 x5 or visit one of the collections in the University of the Virgin Islands' Libraries or the St. John Public Library.
