Join our grassroots effort to promote recycling in St. Croix!
RAVI St. Croix Chapter meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month (typically). Join us at the centrally-located AARP Office (just west of Sunny Isles, next to Johnny Mangoes Restaurant).
Please join us as we plan forour summer activities!
VIWMA Community Enrichment Grant: We want to hear your ideas about what should be written in to the next grant which needs to be submitted by June 26th. RAVI would like to obtain more funding for the Recycle Center and we need your input to help brainstorm next phases.
Recycle Center: We continue to be hopeful that the Center will open soon. We are now 6-months behind due to the government decision to put a drainage swale from the road into the property. We cannot open until the swale is complete and our side fence is re-installed. Estimated time to completion is only 2-days once it is scheduled. We may not have control over government timing, but what RAVI can do now is create an Action plan for implementation after work is complete and the new can densifier is installed and operational. Please help!
RAVI has partnered with Cost-U-Less to offer recycle bins to the public. Get a $3 discount on this bin with flip-up lid by buying the Recycle Sticker from RAVI at the March 9 meeting. RAVI is selling (at no profit) the sticker for $7. The sticker may then be redeemed at the Cost-U-Less service desk for the bin which normally sells for $10 (without the sticker). You save $3 and get a sticker to help educate others about recycling.
RAVI T-Shirts
On sale now for $15. Volunteer at St. Pat's Day parade and get yours for only $10. We also have all-green RAVI T-shirts with large logo on the front that will be on sale at the meeting for the same price.
The Christiansted Freecycle™ group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!
One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. Check out freecycle.org for other cities and info on the movement! E-mail Christianstedfreecycle-owner@yahoogroups.com for questions or comments!
Changing the world one gift at a time.
Come and have fun and jump right in!
Did you know that more than half of the garbage in our landfill is recyclable?
