Join our grassroots effort to promote recycling in St. Croix!

RAVI St. Croix Chapter meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month (typically). Join us at the centrally-located AARP Office (just west of Sunny Isles, next to Johnny Mangoes Restaurant).

Please join us as we plan forour summer activities!

  • VIWMA Community Enrichment Grant: We want to hear your ideas about what should be written in to the next grant which needs to be submitted by June 26th. RAVI would like to obtain more funding for the Recycle Center and we need your input to help brainstorm next phases.
  • Recycle Center: We continue to be hopeful that the Center will open soon. We are now 6-months behind due to the government decision to put a drainage swale from the road into the property. We cannot open until the swale is complete and our side fence is re-installed. Estimated time to completion is only 2-days once it is scheduled. We may not have control over government timing, but what RAVI can do now is create an Action plan for implementation after work is complete and the new can densifier is installed and operational. Please help!

The Christiansted Freecycle™ group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!

One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. Check out freecycle.org for other cities and info on the movement! E-mail Christianstedfreecycle-owner@yahoogroups.com for questions or comments!

Did you know that more than half of the garbage in our landfill is recyclable?

The Recycling Association of the Virgin Islands (RAVI) St. Croix Chapter is a volunteer grassroots organization comprised of individuals, businesses, government agencies, non-government agencies, organizations and clubs; created in February 2007 through a project measure enacted by the Virgin Islands Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. (V.I. RC&D).

Our Vision: All residents and visitors are engaged in waste reduction practices by supporting and participating in recycling programs throughout the territory.

Our Mission: To establish a thriving community of recyclers dedicated to conserving resources through the implementation of comprehensive programs that result in waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.

    Our Purpose/Activities:

    • Network: Provide members with contacts, research and up to date information. Support existing businesses and start-ups.
    • Advocate: Support legislation that affects solid waste policies and advances waste reduction practices.
    • Educate: Implement projects and workshops that generate awareness of and commitment to recycling.
