From February through April 2005, a small sampling of St. Croix residents (N=139) were surveyed to assess their area of environmental concern and level of concern. These respondents live in various Census Subdistricts of St. Croix (Figure 1).

Sewage and Air Quality were identified by 46% (64) of the respondents as the environmental areas of greatest concern. The respondents' level of concern for various environmental issues varied by the area they reside in. For instance, respondents living in the central area of St. Croix were more concerned about sewage than coastal water quality; but coastal water quality was a greater concern for respondents living in the East End (Figure 2).
